What does the training include?
You can enjoy a nice up of tea while watching our 20 minute training video, the video will explain:

  • The layout of your canal boat.
  • How to operate all the equipment on boards, including how to clear the propeller safely.
  • How to manage the toilet, shower and engine.
  • All necessary safety procedures.

After watching the video you´ll be introduced to your own personal canal boat trainer. Your trainer will give you a hands on explanation of the boats internal and external features, as well as covering navigation skills and how to travel through locks (you´ll even get to practice on our special ‘model’ lock).


Operate equipment

Will I have a chance to practise driving the boat?
Yes. Your personal trainer will take you out cruising and show you how to:

  • Start, stop and turn the boat.
  • Moor up and cast off.
  • Steer and control speed.


It´s important that you feel comfortable and confident with your canal boat so if at any stage you don´t understand the instruction please don´t hesitate to ask your instructor to repeat the information. Only when you free ready will we let you take the helm and you can cruise into the sunset!
